How to Become a Christian

 

Below are four steps to becoming a Christian:

1.      Realize that you have sinned and that you are separated from God because of your sin. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) "For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)   2. Recognize that Jesus died to pay the penalty for your sin, and He rose again and is alive today. "But God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures." (1 Corinthians 15:2b-3)   3. Repent (turn away from) your sin and turn toward God through Jesus Christ. "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out." (Acts3:19)   4. Receive Jesus and His gift of eternal life by faith, by calling on his name. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God." (Ephesians 2:8) "That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead you will be saved." (Romans 10:9) "For whoever calls of the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)

You can become a Christian right now if you are willing to take these steps. Read the prayer below: Dear Lord Jesus, I realize that I am a sinner and deserve hell for my sin. I thank you for sending Jesus to die for my sin. I believe with all my heart that He died for me, that He rose again and is alive right now. I turn from my sin and place my faith in Him. Dear Jesus, I invite you to come into my life and be my Lord and Saviour. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus name, Amen! Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? Below are some immediate steps to help you grow in your new            relationship in Christ:

1.   Read the Bible daily. "As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby."  1 Peter 2:2 2.   Pray regularly. "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God." Philippians 4:6 3.   Attend a Bible believing, teaching church faithfully. (Share with them about your experience) "not forsaking the assembling of yourselves together." Hebrews 10:25 4.   Share your new faith openly. "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will confess before My Father who is in heaven." Matthew 10:32
